Five versions of one album!

Fans of U2 will have five different options when it comes to picking up what version of the band's upcoming album No Line on the Horizon they want.
According to Billboard.com, the record will come in the regular CD format and also a double-vinyl version.
However, three additional versions will also be available. A special digi-pack version ($35.98 US) includes the album, 36-page booklet, a poster as well as a film from director Anton Corbijn featuring music from the group.
As well, a magazine version ($49.98 US) contains the album contained in a 60-page "soft cover magazine-style book" and a downloadable version of Corbijn's film.
Finally, a box set edition ($96 US) contains a 60-page hardcover book, two posters and the Corbijn film on DVD.
The group is expected to launch a world tour in support of the record, the band's followup to 2004's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.

Katie Holmes loves jungle gyms

Katie Holmes has developed quite a love for childrens playgrounds. Since spending so much time at the park with daughter Suri, she finds herself noticing details that make her want to create a jungle gym herself.
"We were in Berlin and I was impressed with their playgrounds," she told the New York Daily News, femalefirst.co.uk reported.
"It's amazing what you become aware of as a mother. You think, 'Nice wood on that swing set!'" She added: "I've been to the (Home) Depot many times with other moms. I know how to push a cart. I'm not a wimpy girl!"

"I'm not dying"

Through an oddly named spokesman, Michael Jackson released a statement last night denying he is ailing from a rare lung condition and needs to undergo a transplant.

Earlier yesterday, Internet sites around the world picked up a story from In Touch magazine in which author Ian Halperin claimed the King of Pop is suffering from Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, a condition that can be fatal.

Halperin is the author of a new unauthorized biography on the 50-year-old pop star.
"He's had (the condition) for years, but it's gotten worse," Halperin told In Touch. "He needs a lung transplant but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. It's the bleeding that is the most problematic part. It could kill him."

Halperin also said Jackson "can barely speak" and is 95% blind in his left eye.
But Jackson's "official and sole spokesperson" identified as "Dr. Tohme Tohme" said Jackson is in fine health, and is "finalizing" negotiations with a major entertainment company and TV network for a world tour and series of specials.

"Concerning this author's allegations, we would hope in the future that legitimate media will not continue to be exploited by such an obvious attempt to promote this unauthorized 'biography,' " the statement quotes Tohme as saying.

Santa's A Canadian Citizen?

Santa's a Canadian, according to the federal government.

Jason Kenney, the minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, has formally awarded Canadian citizenship status to Santa Claus, the government announced Tuesday.
“The Government of Canada wishes Santa the very best in his Christmas Eve duties and wants to let him know that, as a Canadian citizen, he has the automatic right to re-enter Canada once his trip around the world is complete,” Kenney said in an official statement.

Just three weeks ago, the Conservative government proposed legislation to expand the country's sovereignty over Arctic waters. International law at present states that no country has dominion over the North Pole, but the United States, Russia, Norway, Denmark and Canada have been pushing their claim to the area long believed to be the location of Santa's office and residence.

Duff Denies Virgin Claim

It seems Hilary Duff wants to keep her options open.
In an interview that accompanies a saucy photo spread for the men's magazine Maxim January issue, the 21-year-old Duff denies ever saying that she was a virgin. Not that she's saying that she isn't one now, because "that's nobody's business but my own."
Of course, a popstarlet's virtue status can always be in flux but an interview Duff gave to Elle in 2006 appears to be what's stamped her with the letter "V." In the article, Duff was quoted saying, "[Virginity] is definitely something I like about myself. It doesn't mean I haven't thought about sex, because everyone I know has had it and you want to fit in."
So, to catch up, while Duff may or may not be a virgin, she denies ever saying that she was one (According to the New York Daily News, Elle is looking into the matter). Still, regardless of her real or perceived innocence, Duff tells Maxim that wilder stories about her are equally untrue.
"I've been accused by the press of giving lap dances at clubs. I mean, little ol' me?" she says. "And they're so descriptive about these lap dances. I don't even know how to do a lap dance!"

OK, that headline was sneaky, but not that sneaky.
Miley Cyrus really will be ringing in the new year in the bedroom of an as-yet-unnamed fan.
In a live, 90-minute special called "FNMTV Presents: A Miley-Sized Surprise," Miley will show up on the doorstep of a charity-minded fan who has spent 2008 helping others in some significant way. See, giving isn’t just for Oprah!
The fan will also get some gifts from Miley, along with some help at the charity of his or her choice. If you’re chosen, Miley will give a performance in your bedroom, and her brother’s band, Metro Station, will as well. (So, if you were charitable in 2008, you might want to make your bed on the 31st.) Happy New Year!

Katy Perry is reportedly engaged to her long-term boyfriend Travis McCoy after the Gym Class Heroes frontman proposed in Paris.
McCoy, who has been dating the singer since last year, is said to have popped the question during a recent romantic break to the French capital by kissing the star with a diamond ring in his mouth, according to the New York Daily News.
Perry received a yellow diamond promise ring from her partner this summer and was subsequently forced to deny engagement rumors after she was spotted wearing the gem.

Something Missing from Britney's Life?

Just how many sides to Britney Spears' crash, burn and so-called phoenix-like rise are we going to be subjected to? The popster has said her piece in the pages of Glamour and Rolling Stone, and on camera in her MTV documentary "For the Record," while ex-husband Kevin Federline broke "his silence" with a cover story in the latest People.
Now, seemingly just ahead of the long-missing Bit Bit's dog's-eye view of Britney's meltdown and ostensible comeback, the "Circus" warbler's mom, Lynne, is offering her take on the situation as she promotes her book, "Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World."
"I think Britney's happy in most ways: very happy with her kids and ecstatic about work, but there's something missing in her life," Mama Spears tells the London Daily Mail. "That gut belief she had in herself when she was so young -- that's what's missing, and she's got to get that back."
(Also missing: Britney's ability to make any decisions for herself, a responsibility that's being handled by her dad -- and Lynne's ex-husband -- Jamie, at least until the court says otherwise.)
Sighs Lynne, "She could set the world on fire in those days, and she knew exactly what she wanted. But the hardships she's been through have made her a little hesitant. She needs one big boost, one plug of energy and she'll be there."
Britney's mom also reveals how she considered calling her tome "It's All My Fault," although perhaps a more apt, if less catchy, title would have been, "It's All My Fault, But Only to a Certain Point, and That Won't Stop Me From Capitalizing on My Famous Daughter."
"I can laugh about it now," she says, "but did I feel that way at the time? Yes, I did, and, if I'm being totally honest, I still do."
Continues Lynne, "When her life was such a success, what did she need me for? And when things took a turn for the worse, I was out, because other people -- dancers, managers -- were closer to her, and with her day and night. Being a mother, you can't help but have regrets about what you did and didn't do for your kids, and I'm no different."
Those regrets include being "an enabler": "Maybe I didn't give her the skills to handle the hard times. Maybe I sheltered her too much from the realities, and sometimes that's not a good thing."
But she bristles at being labeled a stage mother, pointing out that Brit's rise to fame "actually cost us money," and noting, "In this business, it's customary for the mother to take 5 percent, but I never did, even when times were bad and our family needed the money. Jamie and I both said that we never wanted to be her managers; we just wanted to be parents. I was never in the driver's seat as far as Britney's career goes."
Lynne also sidesteps second-guessing her decision to support Britney's pursuit of stardom.
"Well, that's unrealistic," she says. "You don't tell your child, 'You can't play football because you might get into steroids one day,' because you just don't foresee those problems. Even if I had said no to Britney, maybe worse things might have happened because she was frustrated and couldn't fulfill her dreams."
Still, she acknowledges that at a certain low point she joined with the rest of the world in wondering whether Britney, who cut off contact with her as her life began to unravel, would survive her downward spiral.
"Yes, I did worry that that might happen. I couldn't see Britney, and you worry more when you're looking at things from a distance," explains Lynne, who says that when they reconciled after she lost custody of sons Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2, "I felt more reassured. She told me that, as bad as life can get, she still likes life too much to consider ending it."
Enthuses Spears, "I'm so proud of Britney. She's been through a tough time and look at her now. That's my baby -- and she's back."
Lynne also weighs in on the other players in her daughter's tabloid-fueled drama, including her custody-winning former son-in-law, for whom she's full of compliments, although some are of the backhanded variety.
"He's not a bad guy and he has a good heart. I would have chosen a prince or a state governor for her, but Kevin's worked a lot to help out, and I can't say anything bad about him," allows Lynne. "He has been real good with Britney and doesn't want to keep the kids from her at all."
She also sort of praises her ex-husband, who took over Britney's train wreck of a life in February.
"I admire Jamie for making the effort and trying to do it well," says Lynne. "We decided he should be the one to do it, because he's the stronger figure. Moms always give in to their kids because we're softies, and what Britney needed at the time was the stronger person."
While she admits Jamie can be "real gruff sometimes," she concedes, "He's been a disciplinarian when it was needed. He's always adored his children, but when they were younger, he was so distracted with work and was drinking heavily, so they maybe didn't bond like they should have done."
And despite Britney comparing her closely monitored life to jail and "Groundhog Day" ("There's no excitement," she gripes in her documentary. "There's no passion ... I think it's too in control"), Lynne believes the arrangement is a success: "Jamie's really doing well with Britney, and I must give him credit for that."
One rule reportedly laid down by Brit's dad is that she's to have no contact with former flame Adnan Ghalib, the chin-strip festooned paparazzo she hooked up with just ahead of her two trips to the psych ward.
"Did I think it seemed right that they were seeing each other? Oh, no," shares Lynne. "But when I met him, Sam Lutfi [Britney's shifty onetime hanger-on] was also around, and Adnan was definitely the better of the two. But Adnan's out of her life now."
As for youngest child Jamie Lynn, 17, who gave birth to a daughter in June (she announced her knocked-up status with an OK! cover story that reportedly netted her a million bucks), Lynne says, "I couldn't believe that my studious, perfect little girl had got herself pregnant. I just went into shock. But she's doing great now, and is a wonderful mom to Maddie Briann."
When asked if there are any more Casey Aldridge-spawned offspring in the future, a "horrified" Grandma Spears responds, "Oh, no, definitely not. I think it took that one time to make her grow up and realize her responsibilities."

Winehouse's husband in trouble too?

Amy Winehouse's sometime husband Blake Fielder-Civil is apparently suffering from some short-term memory loss.
In an interview last week with the News of the World, he claimed he was living substance-free and wouldn't take "a single penny" from the currently hospitalized singer.
Now, with the rehab-flunking jailbird facing another year in the pokey after reportedly failing a drug test, he may be looking to line his pockets with moolah from the woman he admits he "ruined."
"Blake has asked Amy's manager for $1.5 million to walk away from their marriage and not write a tell-all book about it," a source tattles to the tabloid. "He's so two-faced. He just wants a payoff. Money's his driving force."
Fielder-Civil's mother, Georgette, says Winehouse's father, Mitch, made him a "secret" $75,000 offer to hit the bricks, which he refused, apparently saying, "If Amy wants to divorce, I need to hear it from Amy -- not you. You're organizing your daughter's divorce settlement and she doesn't know anything about it. I'm not going to discuss anything with you."
Sniffs Georgette to the paper, "Mitch's $75,000 offer was an insult. Amy's worth $14.8 million and Blake's her husband. He's entitled to at least $4.4 million after all he's been through with her."
Fielder-Civil, who allegedly escaped rehab last week and made a beeline for Amy's hospital bed before heading back behind bars (depending on which report you believe, they may or may not have enjoyed an early conjugal visit), previously told the tab that he was cutting his mess of a missus loose in order to save her.
"I dragged Amy into it, and without me there is no doubt that she would never have gone down that road. I ruined something beautiful," he said. "Now I have to let her go to save her life. I am not abandoning her. I am doing this out of love."
He then declared, "I'm not interested in her money. I always offered to do a prenuptial agreement before we got married. And if Amy wants a divorce, I'm not going to fight her for anything. It's going to be the saddest day of my life. But it doesn't matter if I turn up in the divorce court homeless and with no shoes on, I'm not taking a single penny off her."

Madonna's Divorce

Have Madonna and Guy Ritchie hammered out a financial settlement in the wake of their fast-tracked preliminary divorce decree on Nov. 21? That's the word from Britain's News of the World, which claims the Big M has signed off on a $47 million-plus payout to her former hubby that includes an estimated $18 million in cash and the rest in property, including their sprawling English country estate.
While the director purportedly said that he wanted "not one penny" from Madonna, whose personal wealth is believed to be in the ritzy neighborhood of $500 million, sources tell the tab that he accepted the deal to ensure things stayed civil (a magnanimous and profitable gesture, if true).
"He never wanted any cash handouts," insists a Ritchie mole. "He agreed with Madonna's demands to keep the peace."
According to another insider, "He is getting one lump sum imminently. Guy wanted to stay in their London home, but Madonna refused to split it in two, and eventually gave him [the $18 million] as compensation. She decided early on that he should get [their country house] Ashcombe."
Madonna reportedly handed over the cash to help her ex buy new digs in London and New York, where sons Rocco, 7, and David, 3, are expected to divide their time in a shared custody arrangement (stepdaughter Lourdes, 12, will reportedly be based in Manhattan with her mom).
Ritchie "ducked out of fighting over her fortune, even though he could be entitled to a big chunk," adds the source, but a Madonna pal counters, "She is fed up at reports that Guy is walking away with no money -- she has sorted his finances for life."
(By the by, Madonna's rumored flame Alex Rodriguez has denied reports that he's looking for a New York pad with her, telling People the whispers are "absolutely ridiculous" and they're "friends -- that's it." Guy, meanwhile, has supposedly struck up a friendship with Hugh Grant's moneybags ex Jemima Khan, with a source telling the London Telegraph, "They have become very fond of each other.")

Shania in NYC

Shania Twain is apparently testing out the old adage about how revenge is a dish best served cold. People reports that the country star, who split from husband Robert "Mutt" Lange" in May amid rumors that he was seeing Marie-Anne ThiƩbaud, her former confidant and manager of the onetime couple's Swiss chateau, jetted into New York last week with a group of pals that included Marie-Anne's ex-husband, Frederic ThiƩbaud. The pair, who are said to be longtime friends, made a point of keeping their distance as paparazzi surrounded them at JFK airport. A source tells the mag that Shania was in town to "hang and shop" with her inner circle, adding, "She loves NYC during the holidays."

Pam's Missing Pants!

Pamela Anderson likes to swap spit with guys whose lips she's already road-tested. The Miami Herald reports the repeat ex of Tommy Lee and Kid Rock was sucking face with forgotten former flame Stephen Dorff at a bash at Miami's Fontainebleau Hotel on Saturday. That same day, and presumably not as a result of the D-list, DD-cup tonsil hockey, the rapidly aging bombshell, 41, turned up pantsless at photographer pal David LaChapelle's exhibit for the Art Basel fair, strutting around in black-and-orange Underoos, peach-colored heels and an off-the-shoulder T-shirt that should have never left the "Flashdance" wardrobe department. Subtlety being Pam's preferred art form, she made sure to get the cameras clicking like it was 1997 and she was still white-hot by awkwardly leaning over a table, her feet and panty-encased heinie high in the air (still, this was downright modest compared to her butt-nekkid birthday cake presentation to Hugh Hefner earlier this year). As if that wasn't sad enough, the London Sun says Anderson was overheard saying, "I want to buy something, but I don't have any money. I'm broke."

Haylie's new film

The older Duff sister enjoys acting in Ottawa, away from zealous fans and photographers.
Haylie Duff on the set of "Nanny's Secret", a made for television movie being filmed in Orleans.
Haylie Duff thinks Ottawa is a great city to work in.
Haylie, the older sister of Hilary, is filming a TV movie, A Nanny's Secret, in which she has the starring role. She's been here almost two weeks and has walked from her downtown hotel to Parliament Hill, Restaurant e18hteen in the Byward Market and the Rideau Centre without being accosted by fans or photographers.
If she was at home in Los Angeles, she'd have a posse of paparazzi following her every move. She'd even be afraid for her safety. That's why her Ottawa experience so far has been a wonderful change from the celebrity-driven madness of Los Angeles, she says.
"It's been a nice little break," says Duff, 23, in between scenes this week at a house in Orleans that is being used in the movie.
Dealing daily with paparazzi is, oddly enough, normal in Los Angeles, she says. "You start to see the same people all the time and never is it something you look forward to, but it's also kind of something that you understand. It's not nice when they catch you off-guard, it can be a little scary at times, especially if you're by yourself."
She says she's been spooked by several incidents that involved crazed fans and the paparazzi. "I had an experience one time when I had a man come to my house and he was looking in my window and there were photographers all day at my house and they were taking pictures of this guy."
"There are drawbacks but it's something that comes along with this business and we have to take it into consideration. Some days there is nobody outside my house and I don't think about it, but as soon as I get too comfortable they surprise me."
She says the privacy she lost as a celebrity is something she can't do much about.
"I just moved into a house with my boyfriend and our house is in every magazine and gossip website. On moving day, we had anywhere from eight to 15 photographers outside and we didn't call them there."
Just 2 1/2 years older than Hilary, Haylie has maintained a separate identity from her more famous sister, preferring to work in films, television, and theatre. She's appeared in the TV-series Lizzie McGuire and Seventh Heaven, on Broadway in Hairspray and in the cult film Napoleon Dynamite, playing the role of Summer Wheatley.
"I'm very close to Hilary," says Haylie. "We talk all the time and we're very supportive of each other and try and visit each other on location a lot but it's hard because we filming in different places most of the year. We are extremely different and work on completely different things. She has been focused on music for years now and I think that's a stigma that people placed on us in the beginning, me especially, being that she was more well-known in the pop culture world."
Haylie has dabbled in music, co-writing songs on Hilary's last few CDs and also recording The Bangles tune Our Lips are Sealed with her sister for A Cinderella Story soundtrack. But she would prefer to leave the music to Hilary, she adds.
"I think that the things I work on prove that we're different from each other. It's not something that I focus on every day to set myself apart from my sister. We're extremely different."
On A Nanny's Secret, filming has gone very well and she's even got used to trudging around town in the snow.
"We don't have seasons in Los Angeles, but it's been beautiful here and we've had nice weather so far."
She plays the role of Claudia in the TV movie about a strong-willed nanny who works for a young family in a home where a robbery occurs. Her life is torn apart when her brother returns to ask her for more money and she becomes involved in hiding information that could help police solve the robbery.
"I try to find roles that show smart women. This character is extremely independent, she's hard-working, going to school and taking care of her brother who can't seem to take care of himself."

Miley just wants to be a normal teen

Miley Cyrus has just celebrated her sweet 16, and she's already a superstar.

The daughter of country legend Billy Ray Cyrus scored with her Disney TV series Hannah Montana, went multi-platinum with her record albums and was a hit in her first big-screen venture, Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds, chronicling her sold-out tour.

Most recently, she joined John Travolta in the animated feature “Bolt.” But even with everything on her plate, Miley insists she just wants to be a normal kid.

Q: Is it hard for people to believe that there's anything normal about your life with all the fan frenzy and media coverage you get?

A: It's what I've grown up with - being around my father who's gone through the same thing. But when you have it happen to yourself, it's finally like, 'Oh, my gosh. Now I really understand what this is business is all about.' It's like the biggest blessing ever because it's so much fun. But it's not only about the perks, it's about the challenges. I just love the challenges.

Q: Are you tough on yourself?

A: I'm my own worst critic because I pick apart each little thing. When we did the movie of our tour [ Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds], I was super nervous because I was watching myself on the big screen. Half of it was no hair and makeup, no wardrobe, no anything. It was raw. It's what our real life was. That was something new for me.

Q: Now that you have your Hannah Montana clothing line, do you stress out a little more about how you look?

A: I'm not always just perfect but that's what fashion is about. I think fashion is more like picking your style and wearing it -- taking who you are and showing it in your style. Fashion has always been a big deal for me and something that I've loved. The clothing line is so fun because it's not only the kind of things that I like. It's like more of a Hannah Montana look, where I can go crazy. There's no saying what I can and can't do. There's diamonds on everything. It's shiny and it's cool. And it's also age appropriate, not only for the younger girls, but for kids my age.

Q: Did you have fun going to recording sessions and only worrying about how you sounded?

A: It was great. I kind of went in there in like my pajamas and just hung out. It was fun. No reason to get dressed up. They weren't taking my picture so it didn't matter.

Q: Was it more of a challenge than Hannah Montana?

A: You do have to adjust to just being heard and not seen. I had to get used to being expressive and really showing what I feel through my voice. But I'm very animated and upbeat, especially on my TV show, so I guess that helped.

Q: You also wrote a song for the soundtrack that you sang with John Travolta, who voices Bolt.

A: It's called 'I Thought I Lost You.' I can't tell you how much fun it was to sing it with John. I'm going to be bragging about that for the rest of my life.

The Pop Princesses: All Better?

Just the other day, The Pop Princesses had a boo-boo that we almost saw coming - they lost not one, but TWO bandmates!
Marian and Jessica made a move to another rival band by three girls named Meaghan (ex-songwriter for the band), Stephanie (hopeful for the band), and Vanessa. Jessica quit unsure which band to join and Marian quit because her 'friends' were forcing her to go into the other band. And she calls them friends?
With a little help from Kayla and Angela, they were able to pull their bandmates back. So, what's happening to that 'other' band? They are now the 'three muskateers'.
"They should name themselves 'The Copier Princesses' or something. Because all they really did was copy us," says bandgirl Angela.
TAKE THAT COPIERS!

Shenae Grimes: Too Big For Canada?

The 90210 star comes home for the Geminis, but what a difference 12 weeks makes.
Shenae Grimes, 19, did not sound happy to be home at the Gemini awards on Friday. An operative from my international networks of spies just called me on their exploding belt buckle with news that our Little Miss Shannen Doherty: The Next Generation was less than thrilled with the caliber of media on the red carpet at the Canadian television awards. "Who is even here worth talking to anyway?" she was overheard saying in front of a lineup that included national bigwigs Entertainment Tonight Canada and eTalk. Definitely a swift change of heart for a girl who was an intern at Fashion Television not even a year ago. She somehow managed to cram all of that ego backstage, where she waved off the media room. "I try to f--king avoid all that sh-t," she was heard saying. She must have been all blabbed out from that People magazine feature, where she denied being difficult to work with, partying too much, and having an eating disorder. She certainly put the latter rumour to rest. "She demanded to know where her dinner was," a source says. Shenae, what happened? She had such good intentions when I interviewed her last January, back when she was just Darcy on Degrassi. "A priority of mine is being a good role model and a good person all around," she said at the time. "I don't hide things from fans. We've all got our bad habits and our vices and our flaws... You want to see the real person. At the same time, that real person should have good morals and should have good values and should teach good lessons." Or, you know, you can just be mean and party a lot and then tell People it's all lies. I suppose that is a kind of lesson.

NEW BANNER! - Dec 1 08

To celebrate the start of the last month of 2008, we now have a new banner made by me! Yay, haha. Well, the banner features Hilary Duff, Leighton Meester and Britney Spears! Three of my favourite female stars on one banner... sweet!

Please comment... with your comments on the banner!

"Circus" out tomorrow!

The Pop Princesses: Bye So Soon?

Are you ready to say goodbye to The Pop Princesses already? Our inside sources tell 'still.a.rockstar' that the girlband may be breaking-up soon. Here's how we got the story:

Bandmate Kayla wants her 'friend' Jessica in the band... so does Marian, but Angela does not - she just wants it to stay the way it is. Kayla went behind Angela's back and told Jessica she was in the band WITHOUT asking Angela. Then, Jessica came to Angela and told her she was in the band. A confused Angela went to Kayla for the truth but both stories were different. Angela then gave Jessica jobs with the band and left it at that. Jessica was fine with that. Angela sorted evrything out with Kayla and everyone was happy... until Kayla told Jessica she was in the band also saying that Angela had said 'yes' (which she never did). A now furious Angela said that the band was tearing them apart and that they needed to stop this nonsense and get recording.

So, what do you guys think is going to happen next? I think the band may not last that long. Boo hoo.
