Madonna's Divorce

Have Madonna and Guy Ritchie hammered out a financial settlement in the wake of their fast-tracked preliminary divorce decree on Nov. 21? That's the word from Britain's News of the World, which claims the Big M has signed off on a $47 million-plus payout to her former hubby that includes an estimated $18 million in cash and the rest in property, including their sprawling English country estate.
While the director purportedly said that he wanted "not one penny" from Madonna, whose personal wealth is believed to be in the ritzy neighborhood of $500 million, sources tell the tab that he accepted the deal to ensure things stayed civil (a magnanimous and profitable gesture, if true).
"He never wanted any cash handouts," insists a Ritchie mole. "He agreed with Madonna's demands to keep the peace."
According to another insider, "He is getting one lump sum imminently. Guy wanted to stay in their London home, but Madonna refused to split it in two, and eventually gave him [the $18 million] as compensation. She decided early on that he should get [their country house] Ashcombe."
Madonna reportedly handed over the cash to help her ex buy new digs in London and New York, where sons Rocco, 7, and David, 3, are expected to divide their time in a shared custody arrangement (stepdaughter Lourdes, 12, will reportedly be based in Manhattan with her mom).
Ritchie "ducked out of fighting over her fortune, even though he could be entitled to a big chunk," adds the source, but a Madonna pal counters, "She is fed up at reports that Guy is walking away with no money -- she has sorted his finances for life."
(By the by, Madonna's rumored flame Alex Rodriguez has denied reports that he's looking for a New York pad with her, telling People the whispers are "absolutely ridiculous" and they're "friends -- that's it." Guy, meanwhile, has supposedly struck up a friendship with Hugh Grant's moneybags ex Jemima Khan, with a source telling the London Telegraph, "They have become very fond of each other.")

Shania in NYC

Shania Twain is apparently testing out the old adage about how revenge is a dish best served cold. People reports that the country star, who split from husband Robert "Mutt" Lange" in May amid rumors that he was seeing Marie-Anne ThiƩbaud, her former confidant and manager of the onetime couple's Swiss chateau, jetted into New York last week with a group of pals that included Marie-Anne's ex-husband, Frederic ThiƩbaud. The pair, who are said to be longtime friends, made a point of keeping their distance as paparazzi surrounded them at JFK airport. A source tells the mag that Shania was in town to "hang and shop" with her inner circle, adding, "She loves NYC during the holidays."

Pam's Missing Pants!

Pamela Anderson likes to swap spit with guys whose lips she's already road-tested. The Miami Herald reports the repeat ex of Tommy Lee and Kid Rock was sucking face with forgotten former flame Stephen Dorff at a bash at Miami's Fontainebleau Hotel on Saturday. That same day, and presumably not as a result of the D-list, DD-cup tonsil hockey, the rapidly aging bombshell, 41, turned up pantsless at photographer pal David LaChapelle's exhibit for the Art Basel fair, strutting around in black-and-orange Underoos, peach-colored heels and an off-the-shoulder T-shirt that should have never left the "Flashdance" wardrobe department. Subtlety being Pam's preferred art form, she made sure to get the cameras clicking like it was 1997 and she was still white-hot by awkwardly leaning over a table, her feet and panty-encased heinie high in the air (still, this was downright modest compared to her butt-nekkid birthday cake presentation to Hugh Hefner earlier this year). As if that wasn't sad enough, the London Sun says Anderson was overheard saying, "I want to buy something, but I don't have any money. I'm broke."

Haylie's new film

The older Duff sister enjoys acting in Ottawa, away from zealous fans and photographers.
Haylie Duff on the set of "Nanny's Secret", a made for television movie being filmed in Orleans.
Haylie Duff thinks Ottawa is a great city to work in.
Haylie, the older sister of Hilary, is filming a TV movie, A Nanny's Secret, in which she has the starring role. She's been here almost two weeks and has walked from her downtown hotel to Parliament Hill, Restaurant e18hteen in the Byward Market and the Rideau Centre without being accosted by fans or photographers.
If she was at home in Los Angeles, she'd have a posse of paparazzi following her every move. She'd even be afraid for her safety. That's why her Ottawa experience so far has been a wonderful change from the celebrity-driven madness of Los Angeles, she says.
"It's been a nice little break," says Duff, 23, in between scenes this week at a house in Orleans that is being used in the movie.
Dealing daily with paparazzi is, oddly enough, normal in Los Angeles, she says. "You start to see the same people all the time and never is it something you look forward to, but it's also kind of something that you understand. It's not nice when they catch you off-guard, it can be a little scary at times, especially if you're by yourself."
She says she's been spooked by several incidents that involved crazed fans and the paparazzi. "I had an experience one time when I had a man come to my house and he was looking in my window and there were photographers all day at my house and they were taking pictures of this guy."
"There are drawbacks but it's something that comes along with this business and we have to take it into consideration. Some days there is nobody outside my house and I don't think about it, but as soon as I get too comfortable they surprise me."
She says the privacy she lost as a celebrity is something she can't do much about.
"I just moved into a house with my boyfriend and our house is in every magazine and gossip website. On moving day, we had anywhere from eight to 15 photographers outside and we didn't call them there."
Just 2 1/2 years older than Hilary, Haylie has maintained a separate identity from her more famous sister, preferring to work in films, television, and theatre. She's appeared in the TV-series Lizzie McGuire and Seventh Heaven, on Broadway in Hairspray and in the cult film Napoleon Dynamite, playing the role of Summer Wheatley.
"I'm very close to Hilary," says Haylie. "We talk all the time and we're very supportive of each other and try and visit each other on location a lot but it's hard because we filming in different places most of the year. We are extremely different and work on completely different things. She has been focused on music for years now and I think that's a stigma that people placed on us in the beginning, me especially, being that she was more well-known in the pop culture world."
Haylie has dabbled in music, co-writing songs on Hilary's last few CDs and also recording The Bangles tune Our Lips are Sealed with her sister for A Cinderella Story soundtrack. But she would prefer to leave the music to Hilary, she adds.
"I think that the things I work on prove that we're different from each other. It's not something that I focus on every day to set myself apart from my sister. We're extremely different."
On A Nanny's Secret, filming has gone very well and she's even got used to trudging around town in the snow.
"We don't have seasons in Los Angeles, but it's been beautiful here and we've had nice weather so far."
She plays the role of Claudia in the TV movie about a strong-willed nanny who works for a young family in a home where a robbery occurs. Her life is torn apart when her brother returns to ask her for more money and she becomes involved in hiding information that could help police solve the robbery.
"I try to find roles that show smart women. This character is extremely independent, she's hard-working, going to school and taking care of her brother who can't seem to take care of himself."

Miley just wants to be a normal teen

Miley Cyrus has just celebrated her sweet 16, and she's already a superstar.

The daughter of country legend Billy Ray Cyrus scored with her Disney TV series Hannah Montana, went multi-platinum with her record albums and was a hit in her first big-screen venture, Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds, chronicling her sold-out tour.

Most recently, she joined John Travolta in the animated feature “Bolt.” But even with everything on her plate, Miley insists she just wants to be a normal kid.

Q: Is it hard for people to believe that there's anything normal about your life with all the fan frenzy and media coverage you get?

A: It's what I've grown up with - being around my father who's gone through the same thing. But when you have it happen to yourself, it's finally like, 'Oh, my gosh. Now I really understand what this is business is all about.' It's like the biggest blessing ever because it's so much fun. But it's not only about the perks, it's about the challenges. I just love the challenges.

Q: Are you tough on yourself?

A: I'm my own worst critic because I pick apart each little thing. When we did the movie of our tour [ Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds], I was super nervous because I was watching myself on the big screen. Half of it was no hair and makeup, no wardrobe, no anything. It was raw. It's what our real life was. That was something new for me.

Q: Now that you have your Hannah Montana clothing line, do you stress out a little more about how you look?

A: I'm not always just perfect but that's what fashion is about. I think fashion is more like picking your style and wearing it -- taking who you are and showing it in your style. Fashion has always been a big deal for me and something that I've loved. The clothing line is so fun because it's not only the kind of things that I like. It's like more of a Hannah Montana look, where I can go crazy. There's no saying what I can and can't do. There's diamonds on everything. It's shiny and it's cool. And it's also age appropriate, not only for the younger girls, but for kids my age.

Q: Did you have fun going to recording sessions and only worrying about how you sounded?

A: It was great. I kind of went in there in like my pajamas and just hung out. It was fun. No reason to get dressed up. They weren't taking my picture so it didn't matter.

Q: Was it more of a challenge than Hannah Montana?

A: You do have to adjust to just being heard and not seen. I had to get used to being expressive and really showing what I feel through my voice. But I'm very animated and upbeat, especially on my TV show, so I guess that helped.

Q: You also wrote a song for the soundtrack that you sang with John Travolta, who voices Bolt.

A: It's called 'I Thought I Lost You.' I can't tell you how much fun it was to sing it with John. I'm going to be bragging about that for the rest of my life.

The Pop Princesses: All Better?

Just the other day, The Pop Princesses had a boo-boo that we almost saw coming - they lost not one, but TWO bandmates!
Marian and Jessica made a move to another rival band by three girls named Meaghan (ex-songwriter for the band), Stephanie (hopeful for the band), and Vanessa. Jessica quit unsure which band to join and Marian quit because her 'friends' were forcing her to go into the other band. And she calls them friends?
With a little help from Kayla and Angela, they were able to pull their bandmates back. So, what's happening to that 'other' band? They are now the 'three muskateers'.
"They should name themselves 'The Copier Princesses' or something. Because all they really did was copy us," says bandgirl Angela.
TAKE THAT COPIERS!

Shenae Grimes: Too Big For Canada?

The 90210 star comes home for the Geminis, but what a difference 12 weeks makes.
Shenae Grimes, 19, did not sound happy to be home at the Gemini awards on Friday. An operative from my international networks of spies just called me on their exploding belt buckle with news that our Little Miss Shannen Doherty: The Next Generation was less than thrilled with the caliber of media on the red carpet at the Canadian television awards. "Who is even here worth talking to anyway?" she was overheard saying in front of a lineup that included national bigwigs Entertainment Tonight Canada and eTalk. Definitely a swift change of heart for a girl who was an intern at Fashion Television not even a year ago. She somehow managed to cram all of that ego backstage, where she waved off the media room. "I try to f--king avoid all that sh-t," she was heard saying. She must have been all blabbed out from that People magazine feature, where she denied being difficult to work with, partying too much, and having an eating disorder. She certainly put the latter rumour to rest. "She demanded to know where her dinner was," a source says. Shenae, what happened? She had such good intentions when I interviewed her last January, back when she was just Darcy on Degrassi. "A priority of mine is being a good role model and a good person all around," she said at the time. "I don't hide things from fans. We've all got our bad habits and our vices and our flaws... You want to see the real person. At the same time, that real person should have good morals and should have good values and should teach good lessons." Or, you know, you can just be mean and party a lot and then tell People it's all lies. I suppose that is a kind of lesson.

The Pop Princesses: Bye So Soon?

Are you ready to say goodbye to The Pop Princesses already? Our inside sources tell 'still.a.rockstar' that the girlband may be breaking-up soon. Here's how we got the story:

Bandmate Kayla wants her 'friend' Jessica in the band... so does Marian, but Angela does not - she just wants it to stay the way it is. Kayla went behind Angela's back and told Jessica she was in the band WITHOUT asking Angela. Then, Jessica came to Angela and told her she was in the band. A confused Angela went to Kayla for the truth but both stories were different. Angela then gave Jessica jobs with the band and left it at that. Jessica was fine with that. Angela sorted evrything out with Kayla and everyone was happy... until Kayla told Jessica she was in the band also saying that Angela had said 'yes' (which she never did). A now furious Angela said that the band was tearing them apart and that they needed to stop this nonsense and get recording.

So, what do you guys think is going to happen next? I think the band may not last that long. Boo hoo.
